The new 2019 Fusion brings the debut of Ford Co-Pilot360™, the most advanced suite of standard driver-assist technologies among full-line brands that includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot information system, lane keeping system, rear backup camera and auto high-beam lighting. 1.5-liter EcoBoost® engine now standard on Fusion SE and higher trim levels, while new Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid model is projected to have an EPA-estimated electric-only range of up to 25 miles – nearly 20 percent greater than the current model. Ford Co-Pilot360 to roll out in key global markets starting this fall to help customers drive more safely and confidently amid rising congestion and distractions; automatic emergency braking to be standard on new passenger cars, SUVs and trucks up to F-150 in North America going forward. In North America, Ford Co-Pilot360 is the most advanced suite of standard driver-assist technologies among full-line brands and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot information system, lane keeping system, rear backup camera and auto high beam lighting. In addition, Ford offering even more premium driver-assist technologies, including adaptive cruise control with stop and go and lane centering, evasive steering assist and post-collision braking in North America. In 2019, Ford is introducing reverse brake assist with AEB to help prevent drivers from hitting an object while backing up. Ford is increasing production of two entirely new SUVs – the Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expedition – to meet surging customer demand. A new $25 million investment brings Ford’s total investment at Kentucky Truck Plant to $925 million and allows the company to increase manufacturing line speed; company has boosted production targets for full-size SUVs approximately 25 percent since fall. This additional investment and advanced manufacturing upgrades all help the company improve its operational fitness. Ford Driving Skills for Life is unveiling several new virtual reality tools in the United States this year, including distracted driving technology, a new hangover suit, and a program that teaches the ins and outs of maneuvering through roundabouts. 2018 U.S. tour includes 60 hands-on sessions, reaching more than 5,500 students who will learn critical skills such as vehicle handling, hazard recognition, speed and space management, as well as how to manage distraction and impairment; new pilot program focusing on rural drivers will launch in North Carolina and South Carolina. Global expansion for 2018 takes Driving Skills for Life programming to Cambodia, Czech Republic and Morocco; women drivers in Saudi Arabia will receive training for the first time.
